Our Relais & Châteaux hotel, ideally located on the north-west coast of Corsica, is a privileged holiday location from which you’ll be able to discover some of Corsica’s must-see sites. By boat, enjoy excursions to admire the splendour of the Corsican coast. Discover the Gulf of Porto, listed as a UNESCO world heritage site due to its incredible geological nature and rich biodiversity. There, you can admire the Scandola Nature Reserve and its superb red granite cliffs. There’s also the Gulf of Girolata with its leafy green setting and the famous Calanques de Piana whose peaks rise more than 300 meters above sea level. You’ll also adore the Sanguinaires Islands with their impressive nature reserve off the coast of Ajaccio, reachable by Cap Corse, the bay of Santa Giulia near Porto Vecchio or by the Lavezzi islands, southward-bound.
Travelling on land, you’ll be able to easily access and visit some of Corsica’s legendary sites. In Ajaccio, follow in the footsteps of the most famous Corsican of all time, Napoleon Bonaparte. Visit the house where he was born, the chapel where many of his family members are buried and the cathedral where he was baptised. Also explore the old town and the Palais Fesch, which houses the art museum. In Bastia, admire the citadel, the Genoese Governors’ Palace and the numerous churches in the town, including the old Sainte-Marie cathedral, built at the end of the 15th century. En route, take a stop on the magnificent beaches of the Desert des Agriates. Then head to Bonifacio, the picturesque capital of Corsica. Perched at the top of a 60-m-high limestone cliff, this maritime town is a real open-air museum. As you wander its charming streets, you’ll be able to appreciate the citadel, the Ermitage de la Trinité and the Sainte-Marie-Majeure church. If you’re feeling more courageous, scale the Staircase of the King of Aragon, built into the cliff edge.
