The Isle of Beauty from the sea
Our Relais & Châteaux hotel, ideally located on the north-western coast of Corsica, is a privileged holiday destination for exploring the must-see sites of the Isle of Beauty. Take a boat trip to admire the splendour of the Corsican coastline. For example, visit the Gulf of Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its incredible geological features and rich biodiversity. There you can admire the Scandola Nature Reserve and its superb red granite cliffs, the Gulf of Girolata surrounded by lush greenery, and the famous Calanques de Piana, whose peaks rise more than 300 metres above sea level. You will also be charmed by the Sanguinaires Islands off the coast of Ajaccio, Cap Corse, the bay of Santa Giulia near Porto Vecchio, and the Lavezzi Islands in the far south with their impressive nature reserve.
Unmissable cultural sites of Corsica also from the land
By road, you can also easily reach and visit the island's legendary cities from our Relais Châteaux hotel in Corsica. In Ajaccio, «the imperial city», follow in the footsteps of Napoleon I by visiting his birthplace, the chapel where several members of his family are buried, and the cathedral where he was baptised. You can also explore the old town and the Palais Fesch, a museum of fine arts. In Bastia, admire the Citadel, the former palace of the Genoese governors, and the city's many churches, including the old Sainte-Marie cathedral, built at the end of the 15th century. On the way, stop off at the magnificent beaches of the Agriates desert. Then head to Bonifacio, the picturesque capital of Corsica. Perched on top of a 60-metre-high limestone cliff, this maritime city is a veritable open-air museum. As you wander through its pretty streets, you can admire the Citadel, the Trinity Hermitage and St. Mary Major Church, while the more adventurous can take the King of Aragon's staircase, carved into the side of the cliff.
